computers not showing at server

I've tried so many things posted in this newsgroup, but still can't get my
PCs (except for 1) to show up in the computers list on the WSUS page. I have
WSUS running along with MSDE 2000A both running on my Windows 2000 Server. I
did not migrate from SUS...this is a fresh install. I've got 3 Windows XP Pro
SP1 machines, 1 Windows 2000 (I'm not sure which SP...I can check if needed
though) and 2 Windows XP Pro SP2 machines. Somehow, I've managed to get one
PC (my XP Pro SP1) machine to show up there in the computers list, along with
the actual server to show up. I'm using Group Policy.
On the PC that I've been working on recently (XP Pro SP2), I've tried so
many things to get it to show up, but it just won't. There is something in
the WindowsUpdate.log that keeps showing up that I'm not sure why. Here's the

Now one of the things that I've tried doing was going into the
registry...here:
HKLM\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate,
and deleting those 3 keys...but the weird thing was that the SusidClient key
wasn't there, so I just deleted the 2. But even though I've stopped and
started the 'Update Services', and waited and waited, they never got
re-created.

I've tried so many things posted in this newsgroup, but still can't get my
PCs (except for 1) to show up in the computers list on the WSUS page. I have
WSUS running along with MSDE 2000A both running on my Windows 2000 Server. I
did not migrate from SUS...this is a fresh install. I've got 3 Windows XP Pro
SP1 machines, 1 Windows 2000 (I'm not sure which SP...I can check if needed
though) and 2 Windows XP Pro SP2 machines. Somehow, I've managed to get one
PC (my XP Pro SP1) machine to show up there in the computers list, along with
the actual server to show up. I'm using Group Policy.
On the PC that I've been working on recently (XP Pro SP2), I've tried so
many things to get it to show up, but it just won't. There is something in
the WindowsUpdate.log that keeps showing up that I'm not sure why. Here's the

Now one of the things that I've tried doing was going into the
HKLM\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate,
and deleting those 3 keys...but the weird thing was that the SusidClient key
wasn't there, so I just deleted the 2. But even though I've stopped and
started the 'Update Services', and waited and waited, they never got
re-created.

Oh boy do I feel embarassed. You know, it's weird because that's how I
originally had the URL too, but was having problems (as in computers not
showing up). But now that I just changed it back as you said to do, and ran
gpupdat /force, then the wuauclt /detectnow commands, the PC that I've been
working on, and the one that appeared, but never did anything after just
notified me that there's updates to be installed. Thank you so much for that!
Maybe between now and when I first started setting this thing up, I changed
something like a permission here or there, fixed it too, and now that the URL
is correct, it's actually working.
Again, thank you...I was starting to go crazy!

Here run this on a couple of boxes that are not showing up and see if
it fixes it,

copy the following into a text file and rename it to Reset_SID.bat

##Start batch script##

reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate
/v AccountDomainSid /f
reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate
/v PingID /f
reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate
/v SusClientId /f
cls
@echo Triggering detection after resetting WSUS client identity
net stop wuauserv
net start wuauserv
wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow
