I installed WSUS on a SUS server and removed SUS. My client machines show up
but the last status report is showing "not yet reported" for all 57 machines.
It has been like this for three days now. How do I get the clients to report
there status?

Hi

Can you attach the WindowsUpdate.log (one word) in %windir% from one of the
client machines?
That might indicate why there has been no reporting activity.

Most likely when you removed SUS, you inadvertently destroyed the
/selfupdate and /clientwebservice virtual directories in the Default Web
Site.

You'll need to clone /selfupdate and /clientwebservice from the WSUS site to
the Default Web Site. This should restore your functionality.

Seems to be the problem but how do I fix it? I have done some reseach and
some people say it is a .net problem.

That's the question of the year, to be honest. Of all of the issues
presented over the past six months of "gold" code, and the previous six
months of beta/RC code, this is the one error we've never definitively tied
to a list of known causes.

Most 'repairs' have been accomplished by reinstallation of WSUS -- which
tells me the problem is fixable, but we've not been able to get to the root
cause.

The text of the error message suggests it may be equivalent to an HTTP '500'
error from the webserver, except it's the SOAP server responding, not the
HTTP server -- which is why I generally ask about server load when I see
these errors.

In one case it was 'fixed' by the application of Service Pack 1 to Windows
Server 2003, suggesting it might be tied to a missing update, or mismatched
assembly or COM DLL library file (although that's not supposed to happen on
Win2003).

I have also seen a high correlation between the presence of this error, and

Again, in these cases I've requested validation and verification that the
subdomain (in this case 'dvfdi.dutchvalleyfoods.com') is properly delegated
in Active Directory; however, the feedback from those requests has also been
inconclusive, but in at least one case, I strongly believe that was a
contributing factor, as the poster all but stated that the domain
configuration was 'nonstandard'.

The only webserver extensions required by WSUS is ASP.NET v1.1, which will
be installed (if not already installed) and enabled by the WSUS
installation.

Status reports of "Not Yet Reported" are consistent with the 0x8024400e
error messages being logged at your clients.
