wsus client not reporting

Helo

I have moved all my sus clients to the wsus. All the clients are shown in
the wsus console but some of them with status: client not reporting yet.
In the WindowsUpdate.log i see that after the workstation was moved: Success
Content Install Installation Successful: Windows successfully installed the
following update: Automatic Updates
and the next time the client tries to update i get error: AutomaticUpdates
Failure Software Synchronization Error: Agent failed detecting with reason:
0x8024000e

I've not seen the 0x8024000e error before. It is:
WU_E_XML_INVALID
The SUS agent is attempting to parse an update's XML blob and has encountered
data that is invalid

It's suggesting that something in the metadata coming from the WSUS server is
corrupted. If this is only happening to "some" systems, then that suggests
that it might be an older update that's not yet been applied to all of the
computers, rather than a new one which would be detected at every computer.

I would suggest moving /one/ of these failing systems into a test group, and
unapproving all updates and then approving them one at time. Also, be aware of
the WI v3.1 and BITS 2.0 updates, which are WSUS-required. It could also be
one of these if they're not yet installed.

I also am seeing this as I test WSUS. It is strange because some PCs report
just fine, and others get this error. I have confirmed that it is not an
issue with ghosting images. I have also tried installing msxml3 with the
latest Service pack, and registering msxml3.dll again. None of these give

WU_E_XML_INVALID
The SUS agent is attempting to parse an update's XML blob and has encountered
data that is invalid
It's suggesting that something in the metadata coming from the WSUS server is
corrupted. If this is only happening to "some" systems, then that suggests
that it might be an older update that's not yet been applied to all of the
computers, rather than a new one which would be detected at every computer.
I would suggest moving /one/ of these failing systems into a test group, and
unapproving all updates and then approving them one at time. Also, be aware of
the WI v3.1 and BITS 2.0 updates, which are WSUS-required. It could also be
one of these if they're not yet installed.

I managed to fix it. the only thing that fixed it was to update the computer
directly from the windows update web site and restart the machine.

I have moved all my sus clients to the wsus. All the clients are shown in
the wsus console but some of them with status: client not reporting yet.
