Hi there,

I'm having an issue I don't quite understand.

We have a network with dutch WinXP machines and 2003 servers. WSUS is
configured to get updates for WinXP, Office 2003, IE7 & 8, and now XML
Core Services (in dutch).

None of the workstations here have 954430 and 973688 installed. These
however do pop-up when going to update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate on
the workstations. After seeing them there I tried adding the XML Core
Services category to WSUS and resynched, however, the updates still
weren't there.

So I went from WSUS to the update catalog, found the updates there and
'installed' them to WSUS. This was already quite surprising as the
download was somewhere near 100MB and took *no* time whatsoever to
download. However, the updates now were findable in WSUS.

Got some of the workstations to check for updates again (wuauclt
/detectnow). If I look at the update now, on the workstations I
rescanned, it says the update is not applicable, yet going to
microsoftupdate website on these workstations still lists them.

Any ideas? Trend Micro, our virusscanner is complaining about these
updates lacking and having high severity. I'd pretty much like to roll
them out instead of having to walk over to each and every workstation.

TIA

The post you've quoted was the first in a new thread. Perhaps your newsreader
is glitching?

Harry.
