I'm running into the 0x8024400a error, and have been trying some of the
workarounds listed in some of the threads, but it is frustrating to have to
wait for the client to report.

I would like to be able to force the client to report status to its server.

Thanks in advance!

You can force a client machine to detect immediatly (and therefore report
status) by running the following command:
"wuauclt.exe /detectnow"

Ah, very nifty. It is a bit strange that calling the command on the client
doesn't give you any feedback as to whether or not it suceeded.

Also, is there a way to execute this command remotely? My workplace isn't
_that_ big, yet it is a hassle to run back and forth between machines.

Hi,

Two tools listed below that can run exe and batch files on remote
computers.

Take a look at PsExec.exe in the free PsTools suite, found at
http://www.sysinternals.com

Another freeware program with similar merits to PsExec is Beyondexec.

I have an XP Client running SP1.
I ran WUAUCLT /DETECTNOW on this client several times.
The first time - was at 11:59 today.

I have run the utility against the same client after this timeframe, without
it reporting to the WSUS server its new detection, which leads me to think -
is this a one time shot per 24 hours.

If I sat at a client and ran wuauclt /detectnow over and over - its not
reporting to the WSUS server ...

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.
